General
Can I edit a receipt after it has been sealed?
No. A sealed receipt freezes its content. If you want to prepare a new version, you can send a 'Suggest revision' on top of it — if the other party accepts, it becomes v2, but v1 still stands as a record. The audit chain proves this.
What if the other party doesn't respond?
The receipt stays in "Pending" status. You can nudge them, cancel the receipt, or let it sit indefinitely. As long as it isn't sealed, no binding outcome is created.
Is it free to use?
Yes — the beta is free. At launch we plan a generous free tier for personal use and a Pro plan for advanced features. Beta users will get early-access perks.
Legal
Is it legally binding?
Seal produces a digital instrument that cryptographically proves both parties' explicit consent, the content, and the time. In Turkey, formal 'electronic signature' regulation requires specific certificate authorities; Seal is an independent, device-based system. It is strong evidence in disputes but does not replace a qualified e-signature. For high-stakes transactions, combine it with a notary or qualified e-signature.
Can I submit the PDF as evidence in court?
Yes. Every sealed receipt can be downloaded as a signed PDF that includes the content hash, party information, verification URL, and QR code. The other party or a court can independently confirm authenticity at getseal.app/verify with the code on the PDF.
If the other party loses their phone, does the evidence still hold?
Yes. The signatures captured at seal time are already on the server. Even if the other side loses their device, the verification URL, content hash, and PDF remain valid evidence. They can recover their account on a new device with phone verification.
Data & security
Where is my data stored?
On MongoDB Atlas (Europe region) and our application server on Railway. Your phone number (E.164) and optional display name are stored. We do not store passwords, emails, addresses, or payment info. See our Privacy Policy for the full list.
What happens if I delete my account?
When you delete your account, your profile (phone + name) is removed. However, sealed receipts shared with another party are anonymized but not deleted, in order to preserve the other party's right to retain the record. This is core to Seal's evidentiary value.
Is my data shared with third parties?
No. We don't sell data for marketing or share with third parties. We only use the infrastructure providers strictly required to operate (MongoDB Atlas, Railway, Twilio, Apple/Google push).
